Description

Hot Flash Huddle: Help Clients Embrace Change During Menopause will explore the stages of menopause and the expected hormonal shifts that affect a woman’s body, mind, and overall well-being, providing you with valuable information in how to best support your clients. You’ll first examine common pain points that begin during perimenopause and can last well into menopause, including unexplained weight gain, sleep disruptions, changes in skin and hair, and other symptoms, including hot flashes and night sweats. Next, uncover the power of nutrition and controlling stress in contributing to fat loss and decreasing symptoms for women. Understand the training needs that work best, including resistance training, mobility, and Pilates (in contrast to common advice of cardio-focused and cortisol-driven workouts). You’ll learn how to apply the science of fitness and strength and use best practices to help women thrive during this period of their lives.

  • List the hormones that are most commonly associated with menopause.
  • Understand the importance of amino acids and their role in increasing lean muscle mass.

About the Presenter

  • Irene McCormick

    Irene McCormick, MS, CSCS, is an award‑winning fitness educator, author, and menopause wellness expert with over 40 years of industry experience. She holds a master’s degree in exercise physiology from Iowa State University and has served as an adjunct faculty member at multiple universities, including the University of Georgia. 

    Irene is the founder of the Menopause Mentor program and creator of Just Start Fitness & Wellness Coaching for Women in Menopause, providing evidence-based education for fitness professionals, corporations, and women navigating midlife health.  

    She is the author of the Human Kinetic books A Woman’s Guide to Strength and The HIIT Advantage for Women, and she was named IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year in 2018.
