Description

High-Intensity Interval Training for Field Sport Athletes provides an in-depth exploration of the application of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to field sport athletes, including soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and rugby athletes. Addressing the unique energy system demands of these sports, you will learn how to optimize HIIT within a total conditioning program. With an emphasis on the importance of tailoring HIIT sessions to the specific needs of an athlete rather than relying on traditional methods that are often insufficient for team-based sports, you’ll get a comprehensive, evidence-based framework for how to use HIIT to truly enhance performance. You’ll get clear methods for addressing common concerns, including how to balance HIIT with practice demands and finding the optimal balance between aerobic and anaerobic work. Additionally, you’ll get tips on integrating the latest advances in sports technology, showing how tools like GPS tracking, heart rate monitoring, and metabolic testing can be used to further individualize and refine HIIT training. With a mix of practical and advanced strategies, this presentation will help new and seasoned coaches alike create effective, well-structured HIIT conditioning programs to enhance game-day performance while minimizing overtraining and fatigue.
