Description

Programming In-Season Training for Optimal Performance covers the foundational aspects of training and detraining for any sport and explains how to apply these conditions to meet in-season demands. You’ll learn how to program resistance training in a way that avoids excess fatigue while maintaining or increasing key performance indicators relevant to each athlete and their specific sport. Specific programming options give you the tools to effectively respond to the unique demands of in-season training.

Learning objectives

  • Describe the theoretical justification for in-season resistance training.
  • Compare the adaptive responses to resistance training and the detraining effect of training cessation.
  • Analyze and apply specific methods of programming best suited for in-season resistance training.
